Makan-makan: Fiqs Gastronomy SS19, Subang Jaya

Image
Ambience: 9/10.  love the interior. Surau is also provided for convenience so extra marks there Service: 9/10. Fast and efficient Taste: 8/10. I like the variety and originality of the menu. Especially the dessert Price: 7/10. Babychairs provided. No kids meal. But gonna come again for more dessert

Makan-makan: Kayu Manis, Cyberjaya

Image
This is the latest restaurant opened at the same row as KFC/Nandos/Paparich Cyberjaya Service: 7/10 Ambience: 6/10 Price: 5/10 or translated as "I think it is overpriced" Taste: 6/10 - Fair. Nothing that I ordered gave me the "ooh i should come here again" If you are thinking of having large crowd of family dinner better head to Horizon Garden Bangi as their price is more value for money and the taste is even better. But currently it is the only place in Cyberjaya featuring crab dishes so have a try

Makan-makan: Oliver's Kitchen, Shaftsbury Square, Cyberjaya

Image
Late post on this One of western food outlet in Shaftsbury Square. According to its FB page it is British food. My spaghetti tasted good, even Hannan ate it. Hubs burger was okay, it looked small but with the sides they are just proportionately nice. And I love the way they present it. Everything about this place seems simple. I guess they want to emphasize that they are not everdoing things and just focus on the food. photo credit to mr.hubs https://www.facebook.com/oliverskitchenmalaysia

happy bday Aries daddy o

Image
this is a long due post..fuh.. happy belated birthday daddy! I had so many plans in mind..like plan A and B and backups and whatnot.. plus list of present ideas but I didn't managed to execute them with proper details as I have so little time..(and ehem budget..) well you know..in between breastfeeding and crying baby and playing with our lil princesses and work and sleep yes.sleep is very important to me nowadays. If i don't have enough sleep I usually get headache and sickness and cranky all day and my milik won't get produced as much as they should be. see? moms need a lot of rest and sleep. oops.anyway. one of the best thing about knowing your husband's bffs is u get them to execute plan. in my husband's case, his bffs go way back during school years and I saw their wedding and having children journey (except for one of them which is still single. pls contact me if any of you interested).. and they always go out together for mamak or futsal sessions....

Makan-makan: The Apartment, The Curve, Mutiara Damansara

Image
Clearing up food pics from my phone. fast, friendly and excellent service. Cosy place. Good portion of food. Mix of western and local menu available. Tenderloin with Wild Mushroom - I like the wild mushroom sauce, but don't think that it goes well with the meat. My Prawn Capellini Pasta was said to be "good choice" by the waiter but I found it to be a tad dry. And there's no different or new taste to it compared to aglio olio pasta. Perhaps we should have tried the dessert. http://www.atheapartment.com

Makan-makan: Melur and Thymes KLCC

Image
Friendly and fast service. Variety of choice and they also feature duck in their menu (any fan of duck satay here?)Nice ambience,  interesting decor. Taste: 6/10

Makan-makan: Picknik, Publika

Image
So for "celebrating" my discharge last Sunday and because I had enough hospital food, hubs brought me to Picknik at Publika. Also because I've been mentioning the place for weeks already First impression: Nice interior, friendly and fast service, wide variety of beverages and menu selection from western to local cuisine. And plus points for kids and desserts menu But hubs and I had different verdict on the burger the he ordered He said the beef patty was a tad dry and there's nothing special about it to shout about On top of that, he was annoyed to the fact that he had to order extra cheese at additional price when the burger already cost him RM30 But I liked it very much. Sauteed mushroom and melted cheese on the patty that comes with nicely seasoned, homemade fries on the plate just blow my mind away ohh wait..that homemade fries was on Hannan's sausage plate! the burger set came with wedges. sorry! Compared to the burger, I think the prawn olio...

Makan-makan:RK Recipe Cafe Tmn Melawati

Image
Delayed entry We saw this place from JJCM and seeing the way Qi the host ate the mee goreng mamak, I demanded hubs to drive us there (Thnk u hubs!) This place is owned by actor Riezman Khuzaimi (hope I get the name right) together with his actress wife (I think the name's Khatijah) We were surprised to find that the actor, actress and their eldest daughter themselves took the order and served us. They even mingled with customers and asked whether the food is okay. Such a humble family I don't quite fancy the chicken rice. Chicken chop was okay. Mee goreng mamak was a bit of twist with addition of ikan bilis Hubby packed nasi ambeng and some cupcakes and said they were good Variety of menu. Good portion too Nice ambience n great service

Makan-makan: Meatworks, Chitta Mall

Image
So we were food hunting post raya last month and discovered that we haven't tried out Meatworks "the appetizer" his.the spare ribs hers.philly cheese steak sandwich the service was fast and friendly. presentation was okay. portion was slightly more than enough for one person. as for my menu, I think they could improve on the seasoning/marinade of the meat as well as the sauce that comes with it. and it wasn't quite juicy. or maybe I shd have just ordered the recommended menu. or make it myself haha (pandai la sangat)

Makan-makan: Pinang Masak Cafe & Restaurant, Bukit Tunku, KL

Image
Hubs was always telling/reporting to me that this place is his usual lunch hangout at the bukit tunku area as recommended by his work colleague and that this place is famous for its traditional malay dishes and kept saying that I should go there to give it a try so one fine weekend before puasa we had our breakfast there I think it was quite late as there were not many breakfast options left I had lontong while hubs had nasi lemak sambal sotong - they were okay but the cekodok ikan bilis... gosh..ultimate yummy!! it stays crispy even when it's no longer hot cekodok ikan bilis..must try must try must try.. I also bought their homemade semprit cookies and according to my lil sis, they are good! visit their FB page here

Makan-makan: Laman Grill Steak and Bar-B-Que Kajang

Laman Grill is purportedly a famous restaurant in Shah Alam owned by one of the Masterchef jury Chef Zubir and when I heard they have opened a branch in Kajang of course I had to go and try the menu myself The place is actually located alongside SILK highway..if you can find Rumah Makan Cibiuk then you can definitely find this place (haha again not good at giving directions) website and exact location can be referred here and  here the day we went there the place was a bit crowded and service was pretty slow plus some dishes in the menu were not available that day 1st impression on the menu when they arrived - "is this going to be enough for me?" but apparently it is and it tasted good so although they scored very low in service, they scored high in taste and food presentation definitely going back to try other menu okay hubby? :p p/s: can't find the pic we took at the restaurant. but I have it on my ig

Makan-makan: Joe's Kitchen SS15 Subang Jaya

I read some good reviews about this restaurant and dragged hubby to try their menu Seeing the place, I agree with some blogger's review that it's a place people would not expect a restaurant to be But of course we went in anyway My first impression The restaurant is very small as it also houses joe's barber shop at the front part I think there are only around 10 tables. I would say the ambience is more suitable for young couples or small families And when we came that time it was very hot inside the restaurant Inconvenient esp when we have active toddler But the interior is nice And service was fast too I think I tried the chicken aglio pasta while hubs had thin crust Hawaiian pizza Loved the pasta. Liked the pizza Would come back to try other signature menu on a cool or rainy day Check out their instagram joes47500 oops, no pics this time because I was too hungry to snap pictures heheh more photos and reviews here and here

Makan-makan: Grafa, SS15 Subang

Image
When I was still having pregnancy sickness I wanted to have something different every single day so one of the place that we went to was Grafa at SS15 I personally think it would be quite difficult for someone not familiar with SS15 area to locate this place because they have a cycling merchandise shop on the front of the café and because there are so many shops along the row and no distinguished landmark to easily pinpoint this area anyway there's variety of menu and drinks to try at Grafa and the ones we had tasted quite good and we think we might be coming again my nasi goreng kampung I don't remember hub's menu. but it's good oh warning! the portion size is quite huge. one plate of pasta can cater for two. Check out their facebook here More review here

Makan-makan: Restoran Selasih, Persada, (and others) Johor Bahru

Image
This is just to update our makan-makan entry when we were in JB last 2 weeks kacang pool Selasih Restaurant Persada This place is recommended by hubs aunt for breakfast The place is cosy and baby friendly The taste is good too And most importantly, the price is reasonable taking into account it's a restaurant managed by hotel Breakfast for 5 people costs only around RM37 If you want to try a different version of kacang pool you can try it here Or you can go to the famous Bomba Larkin kacang pool I also managed to drag hubby to try the famous Mawar Pisang Goreng nearby Thistle Hotel Truly recommended! And hubby always liked the ZZ mee rebus tulang at Jalan Petri (nearby JKR?) We also went to Asam Pedas at Stulang Laut But I think the price is very expensive taking into consideration the ambience and food portion and not a baby friendly place either anyway, we enjoyed our makan-makan trip in JB this time but more to try next time

Makan-makan: I love you, hokey pokey

Makan-makan: Wondermama, Bangsar Village

Image
The key word here is - fusion Expect no ordinary menu welcome to wondermama she wants to check out the menu the menu coke with assam boi and 3 layer bandung with gula melaka garlic fried rice the maggi goreng complete with scallops, prawns, squids wondermama version of rainbow cake I think bandung doesn't go well with the gula melaka The rainbow cake was more like butter cake layered with kaya We liked the maggi goreng best More other menus to try

Makan-makan: Bangkok Beat Bistro

Image
strawberry and lychee ice blended soft shell crab in mellow yellow curry seafood pad thai seafood in red tomyam lychee mint cooler It has been 2-3 months back that we visited this place but I can still remember that this place serves one of the best tomyam we've ever tasted service was good and fast, waiters were friendly and always asking whether we needed anything or whether the food was good http://www.bangkokbeat.com.my/

Makan-makan: Kota Bharu, Kelantan

Image
We went to Kota Bahru early this month as he got some lectures to do He wanted mother and baby to come along  just to complete Hannan's Peninsular Malaysia trip (been to all peninsular states at 1 year old yeay!) Kelantan is famous with its local markets Pasar Siti Khadijah, Wakaf Che Yeh, and "duty free" markets Rantau Panjang and Pengkalan Kubur and other interesting places so why not? We stayed at the Grand Riverview Hotel Poor service. Don't like the breakfast buffet. And pls renovate the the room interior. It's so 20 years behind. Anyway The last time we came here was only 2 years ago and so much development has taken place and this time, with the help of our nice driver, we discovered great makan-makan places! Four Seasons is our top list try out the mango chicken and ikan 3 rasa, I almost cried for more Set dishes starting from RM68 for 4 dishes, plain rice and fruit platter. generous serving size, definitely value for money. Perfect for ...
